Dr. Gary A. Hyde

Dr. Gary A. Hyde joined his father, Mr. William A. Hyde on September 9th , 2011 at 6:06 pm during a brief rain shower mixed with sunshine and followed by a rainbow. Gary was born to William and Doris E. (Steinhauser) Hyde on August 26th,1941. A graduate of Bristolville High School, Class of 1959, Gary was involved, as he was his entire life, with class activities and leadership. Following graduation he attended Kent State University before being accepted into the Ohio State University Optometry School from which he received his Doctorate in 1964. Gary began a lucrative optometry practice in Howland, Ohio where he served his patients sacrificially until he retired on July 1st, 2009. Married to the love of his life, the former Nancy Jackson, on November 10th, 1967, Gary was blessed with four daughters; Susan, Mary, Barbara and Nancy Lee. From these daughters and son-in-laws; Robert Whiting, Michael Evans, Lawrence Gwirtz and Bret Gdovin, Gary became the supportive and loving grandfather of eight grandsons; Bobby, Brandon, Sutton, Nick, Danny, Matthew, Michael, and Patrick as well as granddaughters; Adelynn, Molly, and Madison. He was also fortunate to welcome one great-grandson, Maclin, into his ever-expanding circle of family. He will greatly be missed by his mother Doris of Howland. Gary presented a passion for life, love, and his country. A naval officer, he served his country as he did his family, with love and devotion. He will be missed by all who had the privileged to know him, for his big heart, big spirit and vibrant personality. Go Bucks Memorial services will be held at the McFarland & Son Funeral Home, Friday September 16th, 2011 at 5:00 PM. The Rev. Thomas McFerrin will officiate.
